Our Keynote Speaker:

Entrepreneur Ranjit Singh Boparan is the founder of food manufacturing company 2 Sisters Food Group and currently President of parent company Boparan Holdings Limited (BHL).

Born in August 1966 in Bilston, West Midlands, Ranjit left school aged 16 to work in a butcher’s shop. He founded 2 Sisters Food Group in 1993 with a small bank loan. Initially a frozen retail poultry cutting operation, 2 Sisters has grown rapidly through acquisition and expanded to cover more than 20 manufacturing sites in the UK and Europe.

The group employs over 18,000 people, and annual sales exceed £2.5 billion. It is listed 9th on the Sunday Times Top Track 100 and is one of the largest food companies in the UK by turnover.

Over the past 25 years, the company has evolved from a small scale operation to a world class diversified food manufacturer with strong market positions in Poultry, Prepared Meals and Bakery categories.

The company focuses on delivering the highest quality product to customers at the lowest cost. UK customers include Aldi, Asda, Co-op, KFC, Lidl, Marks & Spencer, Morrison’s, Sainsbury’s and Tesco.

Ranjit has successfully implemented a series of acquisitions to grow the business, most notably the acquisitions of Hillsdown in 2000, Storteboom in 2010 and Northern Foods in 2011.

Although predominantly a private label manufacturer, 2 Sisters also produce branded products such as Hollands Pies.

Aside from 2 Sisters, Ranjit also holds interests in a portfolio of other businesses, primarily in food production and national restaurant chains.

He received an honorary doctorate from Nottingham Trent University in July 2015, “in recognition of his significant contribution to the food manufacturing industry, to education and the development of his workforce, and for his philanthropic interests.”

Proud to have exceptional long-standing customer relationships, Ranjit’s mantra is to put the customer at the heart of everything the business does.
