Industry backs Meat Business Women
The professional networking group Meat Business Women is delighted to announce recent backing from major meat processors from across industry.
Cranswick plc, Dovecote Park, Fairfax Meadow, Euro Quality Lambs, OSI and Moy Park are actively supporting the initiative, in addition to major trade associations like British Meat Processors Association and Association for Independent Meat Suppliers throwing their weight behind it.
Laura Ryan, Chair of MBW, said, “Having industry directly backing us and wanting to be part of the journey to increase the female talent pipeline is fantastic. We already had two levy boards involved (Bord Bia and the AHDB) but knowing that meat companies want to be associated with us and help us grow is tremendously encouraging”.
Meat Business Women is ran on a not-for-profit basis by a six-strong committee who have three simple objectives for women within the meat supply chain from abattoir onwards:
· to skillfully improve networking,
· assist in making the image, culture and landscape of the meat industry more attractive to female talent
· nurture new female entrants into the sector
Meat Business Women know it’s only at the start of the journey, but we have a strong following within industry, including organisations like the BMPA and others. David Gunner (Joint MD of Dovcote Park) spoke at the last event in London and Adam Couch (CEO of Cranswick plc) will be speaking at the first full conference in Birmingham on 10th October.
