The search is on for Meat Business Women’s ‘One to Watch’ winner 2022

Entries and nominations are open for the Meat Business Women One to Watch prize, which aims to recognise and celebrate an aspirational woman in the meat industry aged 35 or under who is making an impact in her place of work.

Entries for the prize are only open for three more weeks, so Meat Business Women is encouraging all women who work in the meat industry to get involved and complete their entry form before the deadline of 31st July. Alternatively, people can also nominate someone they know by completing a nomination form.

The winner will receive £4,000 to put towards her personal development which has kindly been supported by Interfood, as well as a ticket to the award announcement and networking dinner in October.

All entries will be judged by a panel of four industry experts: Margaret Boanas, Master of the Worshipful Company of Butchers, Ranjt Singh Boparan, Owner and Founder of 2 Sisters Food Group, Lucianne Allen, Director at Aubrey Allen and Lisa Hand, Business Development Director at Food for Thought.  This year’s winner will be revealed at a luxury networking dinner taking place in early October.  Tickets for this highly anticipated event will be launched in the coming weeks

Now in its fourth year, the annual prize is open to all women who work across the entire UK & Ireland meat sector aged 35 or under.  It was established by Meat Business Women to help celebrate, nurture and support female talent in the meat industry.

Details on how to enter or to nominate someone you know can be found on the Meat Business Women website.

2021 winner’s story: April Dear

Last year’s winner, April Dear decided to use her prize money in a different way and put it towards creating an innovative new project. ‘Feed Your Future’ was created with the intention of engaging with young people to educate them on where their food comes from, and attract future talent into the meat industry.

A group of students were invited to collaborate with their peers to form an enterprise group and invent a summer BBQ meat product. By spring 2023 each group will have brought their ideas to life with the ongoing guidance and mentorship from skilled professionals within Cranswick from a range of departments including NPD, Marketing, Commercial and Process.
