Meat Business Women Appoints Marketing Manager
Meat Business Women is pleased to announce the appointment of Rebecca Fearon as its first membership marketing manager.
An experienced marketer who grew up on a dairy farm in South Cumbria in the UK, Fearon will work to fulfill the growing global demand for Meat Business Women’s services and further increase its public profile, reach and membership by managing the marketing and communications strategy across the organisation. She will also consult closely with members and corporate supporters to further expand membership services.
Fearon joins Meat Business Women from Agriconnect, the agricultural information and communications business, where she was marketing manager on the commercial and events team. While at Agriconnect, Fearon worked with sponsors, commercial clients and exhibitors on events including LAMMA Show, LAMMA365 and The CropTec Show. She was also part of the team that launched Women in Food & Agriculture.
Fearon says: “I first became aware of Meat Business Women a couple of years ago and have watched what the organisation does ever since. I loved that they were way ahead of the game in terms of promoting gender equality and diversity in the workplace. Having grown up in the industry, it’s so exciting to be part of an organisation that is promoting positive change and changing perceptions. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone I’m going to be working with and alongside. People are what makes our industry so special, so I’m excited for this.”
Fearon takes up her new role at Meat Business Women as the organisation is gearing up for its next phase of growth. This includes plans to expand into new global territories and develop a new suite of membership services as well as working with a record number of corporate partners from across the supply chain, including processors and retailers such as Coles.
Founder and global chair Laura Ryan says: “Meat Business Women is expanding at incredible speed and we have big ambitions for further growth. It’s great to have Rebecca on board as we prepare for the next phase of our mission to empower women in the global meat sector. With her deep knowledge of food and farming, track record in marketing and passion for championing women, Rebecca is the perfect fit for Meat Business Women. We can’t wait to introduce her to our members.”
Fearon started in her new Meat Business Women role on 8 November. She is UK based but will have oversight across all of Meat Business Women’s marketing globally.
Meat Business Women works in partnership with meat businesses and the supply chain to remove the barriers that stop women from reaching their full professional potential. It does this by focusing on five key areas: changing perceptions of the sector; moving inclusion up the agenda; tackling the broken career ladder; strengthening networks and creating visible role models; and gender-proofing working practices and patterns.
Meat Business Women was officially recognised by the United Nations in 2019 as a solution to one of their Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and has the strategic backing of major meat processors including Cranswick, Dunbia, Hilton Food Group, ABP, Moy Park, Linden, OSI and Pilgrim’s UK.
