About Jackie Carter
Born on boxing day a very long time ago in Watford. (a galaxy far, far away).
I studied an Agriculture Animal Science degree at Leeds University, followed by a Masters degree in Meat Science at the Meat Research Institute, now part of the University of Bristol. I have worked at Cranswick since October 1992, working my way up from quality assurance operative to site technical manager of our largest primary processing site, through to divisional technical manager and latterly Group Technical Director in April 2018. I am passionate about ensuring the quality, safety, legality and authenticity of our food and delivering exceptional animal welfare standards. I am a member of the BMPA Animal Welfare Committee which aims to drive improvement throughout the industry. As a committee member of Meat Business Women I am dedicated to encouraging female talent to enter and progress through our great industry.
Outside of work I enjoy walking my dog (10k max distance or we both get knackered), horse riding (but only little ones, I can’t get up on the big ones) reading (anything with dragons and wizards in) and drinking (mostly gin).
Oh, and I’m married (to my second husband Lee – plan on keeping this one), with two children, George 28 and Megan 25 (told you I was born a long time ago) and two step-children, Oliver 28 and Abigail 26.
