The future of the global food industry relies on attracting, retaining, and developing top talent. A diverse and inclusive workforce, reflective of all sections of society, is crucial.

The Food Business Charter demonstrates Meat Business Women’s and its signatories' commitment to advancing gender balance, aiming for 40% female representation by 2035 by removing barriers to women's advancement and success.

Building an inclusive workforce is good for business. Inclusive workplaces drive innovation, profitability, and employee retention while aligning with UN Sustainable Development Goal 5 and meeting the expectations of food industry customers and investors.

The Charter

Ambition: calls for signatories to work towards an industry ambition of 40% female representation by 2035. But it recognises the diversity of the industry and that signatories will have different starting points with a varying degree of resources available. Each signatory should therefore set its own milestones and implement a strategy that best fits its unique needs
Accountability: fosters accountability by obliging signatory companies to collect robust data on gender representation, committing them to report on their progress, and to appoint a senior executive responsible for gender balance and inclusion.
Actions: promotes positive change across the food industry by committing signatory companies to take clear, measurable actions to attract, retain and progress female talent. Particular emphasis should be placed on fixing broken rungs of the career ladder by supporting more women into team leadership and executive positions.
