The future of the global food industry relies on attracting, retaining, and developing top talent. Global research repeatedly shows, year after year, that inclusive workplaces are more profitable and more innovative, that they retain staff for longer and make better decisions.

The Food Business Charter demonstrates Meat Business Women’s and its signatories' commitment to advancing gender balance, working for 40% female representation across the food industry by 2035 and removing barriers to women's advancement and success.

Whilst progress towards gender inclusion continues to progress, ongoing labour challenges mean that now is the time for the food industry to accelerate progress and take decisive action on gender balance.

How can my organisation sign The Charter?

Meat Business Women Partners & Supporting Organisations

Partners of Meat Business Women can sign The Charter with immediate effect. Organisations who operate in supporting sectors can become a ‘Supporting Signatory’. E.g. education, research, regulation, marketing/levy boards.

The global food industry’s future relies on attracting, retaining, and developing top talent.

However, the meat industry in particular, faces significant challenges.

Research by Meat Business Women shows women made up just 33.5% of the sector’s total workforce in 2023, down from 36% in 2020.
